Dapol have revealed livery samples for their N Gauge LNER J72 tank engine with no less than seven examples on display at the 2025 International N Gauge show.
First announced (or rather 'reannounced') in September 2024, the model has made rapid progress with release now expected in Q3 2026. The livery samples on display had just arrived from China and are now under evaluation by Dapol for any tweaks or changes required. Some adjustments to the colours on 68736 and 69023 'Joem' have already been identified and as these are samples, the fit and finish is not fully representative of the production models.

Dapol have taken a great deal of care to give the J72 excellent haulage capability, and the running EP samples was seen hauling no less than 11 coaches. Dapol have also managed to make provision for a NEXT18 DCC decoder socket, making it easy for DCC users to convert their models. No mean feat in a model of such small size!
