Close-up: Dapol N Gauge 63xx GWR Mogul

At the 2026 International N Gauge Show, Dapol had the latest livery samples on display for their forthcoming N Gauge GWR 2-6-0 Mogul.

Forming part of Dapol's new generation of steam locomotives, the Mogul's include drive via coreless motor mounted in the loco and a Next18 decoder socket and space for a speaker in the tender. The loco and tender are connected by a simple plug which makes separating them an easy process whilst providing electrical connection. Firebox glow is also fitted, one of the first N Gauge Steam locos to include this feature, working on an independent timer system.

The models photographed at TINGS are still at sample stage, so the fit & finish of some parts is not representative of the final models and some tweaks have been specified prior to them entering production.

Production of the models is currently expected to start during November, with delivery during Q1/Q2 2027.
