Dapol have announced they are to produce a brand new N Gauge Class 87 electric locomotive. The Dapol design team are finalising the CAD before the project will move to the tooling room. Dapol are hoping to have finished models in stores by Q3 2024.
The model will feature the following specifications:
Finely detailed body & roof with many extra fitted detail items
5 pole Super Creep motor with incredible controllable slow running speed
All wheel drive and pick up
Finely detailed (posable/non functional) High-Speed and Cross-Arm pantographs (as appropriate)
Accessory bag with optional fitted parts
The Class 87 will make use of the existing Class 86 mechanicals, so is not a 'next generation chassis', however Dapol have not ruled out adding additional features like pre fitted speaker at a later date.
Dapol will also be tooling several different cab end variations to allow them to produce models across the service life of the locomotives
Eight liveries are planned for initial release and the images below are of the provisional artworks and are shown for illustration only - they are subject to change and or correction where necessary.
RRP is £155.00 for DCC ready versions and £190.00 for DCC fitted.
The Twin pack for 87006 and 87012 has an RRP of £300.00 for DCC ready and £370.00 for DCC fitted.
